Dementia friendly practice:

The Malthouse Surgery is now dementia-friendly. We have clinicians with specialist knowledge of dementia, and several of our practice staff are trained in the condition to assist with diagnosis, management, and care planning.

In the UK, there are more than 850,000 individuals living with dementia, and this number is expected to increase. Each year, 225,000 people are diagnosed with dementia, which equates to one person every three minutes. By transforming Malthouse Surgery into a dementia-friendly practice, we enhance patient experiences through better care planning, communication, and by raising dementia awareness among our staff. This helps patients with dementia have better control over their lives and health. This will help patients and their carers understand the support services available to them and how to access these and make them feel valued and part of a community.

If you have concerns about memory impairment, do not hesitate to contact your GP for further discussion, and we can advise you on the next steps.

If you are a patient with a diagnosis of Dementia or a carer of someone with Dementia and need more support, then please speak to a member of our staff.
