APPOINTMENTS

OUR TELEPHONE TRIAGE SYSTEM FOR URGENT SAME DAY APPOINTMENTS HAS NOW BEEN RUNNING FOR OVER THREE YEARS. A CONTINUING BIG THANK YOU TO THE MAJORITY OF PATIENTS WHO HAVE APPRECIATED THE CHANGE, ACKNOWLEDGING THE EXCELLENT SERVICE RECEIVED, WITH GP CONTACT BEING MADE WITHIN 4 HOURS OF CALLING THE SURGERY WHEN SAME DAY URGENT CARE IS NEEDED.

THE REASON WE MOVED TO THIS NEW SYSTEM IS AS HIGHLIGHTED IN THE MEDIA, THERE IS GROWING PATIENT DEMAND AND EVIDENCE SHOWS THAT THIS IS A CHANGE THAT IMPROVES PATIENT SERVICE AND SATISFACTION, AS IT ALLOWS INCREASED URGENT SAME DAY ACCESS TO A GP WITHIN FUNDED RESOURCES BY INCREASING THE NUMBER OF POSSIBLE PATIENT CONTACTS IN A DAY.

THE CHANGE HAS ALSO ALLOWED US TO INCREASE THE LENGTH OF SOME ROUTINE APPOINTMENTS, AIDING BETTER CARE AND HEALTH MANAGEMENT OF AN INCREASINGLY AGED POPULATION WITH MANY CHRONIC DISEASES
